Servings: 1 person
- 1 1/2 ounces tequila
- 1 ounce orange liqueur
- 3/4 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1 ounce blackberry simple syrup (recipe below)
- lime wedge and coarse salt for rimming the glass
- blackberries, for garnish
Blackberry Simple Syrup
- 1 cup blackberries
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
Make the simple syrup
Combine all simple syrup ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Once the water starts to steam, mash the blackberries. It's ok if you can't completely pulverize them just yet, they're still heating up.
Simmer the mixture until all sugar has dissolved. Mash the rest of the blackberries. Remove from heat. Let sit for 10 minutes then strain through a fine mesh strainer. Store in an air tight container.
Make the margaritas
Cut a small slit in the middle of the lime wedge and run it along the rim of your glass. Coat the rim in coarse salt. Put 4 ice cubes in the glass.
In a cocktail shaker with a few ice cubes, combine all the margarita ingredients. Shake for 15 seconds and pour through a strainer into the glass.
Fit the lime wedge onto the rim of the glass and throw in some blackberries.
